Sign up section

Welcome to the sign up section of Crunch. Here you can read about the different teams which you can join for the upcoming Outdoor season 2008. The deadline for signing up is Monday 18th of February. Below will follow a description of each team and the goals they have set themselves. If you already know which team you want to join, you can go straight to the sign up form. Be aware that joining a team for practice and/or playing competition has costs associated with it.

There are five competition teams you can join: Crunch 1, Bovine, Oddjob, Oetsers, and Crunching Tigers. More info on these teams can be found in the Team section of our website or by clicking on the team name below. These teams will all participate in the open competition and probably also in the mixed competition which takes place after summer. The competition days of the open competition are always on Sunday and held across the Netherlands: 13th of April, 27th of April, 18th of May, and 1st of June.

The two other teams you can join are the CamboCakes and the SpongeBabes. The Cakes practice intense and hard for a number of different tourneys across Europe. They have open try-outs until March 9th for everybody interested. The SpongeBabes are a ladies' team, who also practice for different tourneys in the Netherlands and abroad, but are open to all ladies who want to improve and invest in a team.

All applications will be collected after the 18th of February and the Coordinator New Members/Training will meet with the core group representatives to assign every applicant to a team. The teams have the final say-so whether someone is allowed to join, but the coordinator will try his utmost to find everybody a place in a team according to his/her wishes. Be aware that you may not end up in the team of your first choice.

Now without further ado, here are the teams:

Bovine University

Voor spelers (jongens èn meisjes) van 14 t/m 24 jaar die willen leren en plezier willen maken.
Core group: Reggi Hensen
Practice: Wednesday 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Riekerhaven

Crunch 1

This year our aim is to get together a mix of some experienced players and promising (new) players with potential; to give these new players the chance to develop further, learn from the experienced, and play at a higher level. We plan to have structured practices to be able to grow individually, as well as a team. We go for fun and spirited, but hard ultimate!

Core group: Erwin van Langeveld, Lennart Post.
Practice: Wednesday 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Riekerhaven

Oetsers

The Oetsers are a fun team consisting of players of all skill levels. After promotion to third division last year, we are really looking forward to outdoor competition again this year. Our trainings are open for everyone who is enthusiastic, but we expect our competition players to commit themselves to attend 3 out of every 4 trainings. During the season we have several social events, like dinner parties and bbqs.
Core group:
Jesse Meijers, Thijs Keukenmeester.
Practice: Wednesday 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Riekerhaven

Oddjob

"Oddjob acts as Goldfinger's personal chauffeur, bodyguard and golf caddy in the James Bond film Goldfinger. He is extremely strong and durable, demonstrating his strength in a number of scenes. He is an expert at unarmed combat. He wears what appears to be a flat-topped top hat lined with a metal razor disk in the rim, using it as a lethal flying disc of sorts. Plus, he's sort of weird."

We are fun and social, but we are also keen on improving ourselves and appreciate team members making the effort of taking part in team trainings. Last year we won the 4th division and will promote this year to the third division.
Core group: Hanneke Bresser, Mattijs Hogeland, Anna Westra, Kalle Siebring, Ellen den Braber, Geert de Boer, Phillip Wicke, Marije Tijssen, Christiaan Knaap, Feike van Zwet, Erwin Groenendal, Onno Manck.
Practice: Wednesday 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Riekerhaven

Crunching Tigers

The Crunching Tigers are the new kids on the Crunch Ultimate block. As yet untested, we are eager to get going. Most of our players have less than one year ultimate experience and the spring 2008 season will see our debut as a team in the Amsterdam league. We are trying to form a solid team for competition, so we are still looking for some more enthusiastic players to join this fun fresh bunch of ultimate fans! You don’t need any experience to join us. However, we hope to attract some more experienced hands as well. And if you’d like to meet us first, some of us are to be found every Sunday afternoon (14.00 hours) at Westerpark. Everybody is welcome to join for a Crunchy Cappuccino and some light practice!
Core group: Paul de Moel, Vincent Schutte, Francisca Grommé.
Practice: Wednesday 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Riekerhaven

CamboCakes

For those of you who want to become a high-level player fast and are happy to train hard to get there, the CamboCake trainings are for you. The CamboCakes is a Crunch team that focuses on high-level tournaments. Our winter/pre-spring training is outdoors on Friday nights. When spring comes we'll switch to a Tuesday or Wednesday. Our focus is on developing players' skills, tactics and physical condition within a fun and spirited team.

Then we take that team to some competitive tournaments to further develop and hopefully reach our potential against some of Europe's best teams. Our tournament schedule kicks off in late April, then we average about one tournament per month.

We don't care what your current frisbee experience or level - if you have the desire to play at the highest level in the Netherlands, then you are very welcome. You will receive expert coaching in a fun team atmosphere.

We ask that you:

1: Commit to practices - we practice no matter the weather.
2: Commit to increasing your fitness - our practices are physically demanding, and we expect everyone to put 100% in from start to finish.

The Cakes ask 4 hours per week from our players, which includes Friday night trainings, and making sure you get fit. Gym, track sessions, whatever you need.

We train hard, play hard and then finish with a pizza and a beer after each and every practice.

Core group: Andrew Vincent, Laurenz Eveleens, Michael Cummings.
Practice: Friday (until Spring) 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Arsenal (???)

SpongeBabes

Sponge Babes Dam Square is the name of a new team in Amsterdam, a women's team. You may have seen us in the City League, in bright yellow. Not Oetsers bright yellow, but Spongy bright yellow.
This upcoming season our aim is to attend tournaments to improve and have fun. Tournaments on our wishlist are: Women's NBK indoor, Tom's Tourney, Disc Days Cologne and Windmill Windup.

So if you are female, looking for a fun team to practice with this summer and maybe even play some tourneys with, then join us! Experience is not required, but wanting to improve and work as a team is.
Core group: Lisa Kouwenberg, Marleen Vervoort.
Practice: Friday (until Spring) 19.30 - 21.30 h, Sportpark Arsenal (???)

These are the teams you can join. If you have made your decision, you can go to the sign up form.
