Crunch Newsletter June: READ THIS
Details about Summer Training
During June and July training will take place at the artificial field behind the regular grass trainingfields.
June: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 19:30 - 21:30 h
July and first half of August: Thursdays only, 19:30 - 21:30 h
Training is open for every Crunch, NUTS or Red Lights member. Training will mostly consist of two drills and a long game. Always bring a light and a dark shirt.
Why do we have to play on artificial turf in the summer?
To ensure quality grass fields for next season (starting half August), the grass fields are sown and need to rest for at least eight weeks. During these weeks nobody is allowed to train or play on the grass pitches. This is normal procedure at every sportpark in Amsterdam.
What if there are other people on the fields?
The sportpark is open for use by local children/people. So it could happen that people are playing on the artificial field. Since we have a reservation on the fields from 19:30 - 21:30, you can send them off the field to any other artificial pitch in the sportpark.
Competition: Results of the Open Competition and Mixed is coming soon
Open competition
Sunday June 8th was the last competition day of this years open competition. In the fifth division the Crunching Tigers were looking to win some games. Hopefully their report will come in soon, as we are curious to know how they did. In fourth division Oddjob had a small chance of promotion if they could beat NUTS. They won every game, except the one against NUTS. So they finished on a steady second place. In second division Crunch1/2 didn't play as good as last day. They lost both games, finishing 4th in their division. In first division CamboCakes 2 battled against relegation. However the brothers from CamboCakes 1 were stronger and also the second game against Red Lights was a loss. CamboCakes 1 also beat UFO1 after the win against CamboCakes 2. They finished third.
Gronical Dizziness became overall champion this year. Check out the report on the last day in division 1 (including our own CamboCakes 1&2).
Mixed competition
Open competition has ended, but Mixed competition is already on it's way. Does your team have enough women? Mixed competition requires 3/4 women at the line every point. Mark the three dates for mixed competition this fall: 6 September, 4 October and 18 October.
What happened recently?
City League
Last friday City League ended with a big bang. A night full of finals gave us the Red team as this years deserved winners. Second place was for Green and White took the bronze medal home. After the games there were freshly baked hamburgers and of course an afterparty in the canteen. We hope to see all players again in the fall City League
One Day HAT
On sunday 24th the Crunch One Day Hat took place. On a lovely (hot!) day almost 40 players gathered to play some games of ultimate in a relaxed atmosphere. It was a fun day and I think a lot of people got their first sunburn of the year that day.
BUM Berlin
Pentecost weekend was the weekend of the beach tournament BUM in Berlin. Crunch and NUTS went to this great tournament with an open and a women team. Check out the report on: www.crunch-ultimate.net/bum
