Cakes and Primavera Olandesa at xEUCF

Most of you will have known that from Thursday till Sunday, the extended European Ultimate Club Finals (xEUCF) took place in London. This is a complicated name for the European championship for clubs. This tournament is held every 4 years and featured 38 open teams, 16 women's teams, 20 mixed teams and 8 masters teams. Crunch was represented in the open division by the cambocakes, and in the women's division by several players of Primavera Olandese (the top level women's team with women from all over the Randstad).

The CamboCakes finished the tournament in the 29th place, in their last game beating their Dutch competition UFO (from Utrecht) with a clear 15-11. Something really worth mentioning is that the cakes struggled a bit with the spirit scores they received in the last couple tournaments leading up to the xEUCF. But at the xEUCF they finished in an awesome 3rd place for spirit! Awesome job guys to play this hard and still keeping it fair and square.

Primavera finished the tournament in 7th place. Not bad, but I think they had hoped to finish a bit higher. A tough game against JinX from Berlin which they lost on the final point, left them to play the Finnish team Viima for the 7th place. Primavera also received an awesome 3rd place in spirit, true to form, because primavera usually ends up in the top of the spirit scores.

All in all we can be very proud of the Cakes and Primavera to have reached these results. Playing in the European top and playing with great spirit. Both teams will now take a break and then in the winter will start preparation for the World championships for clubs in Prague (in 2010).

See you tonight on the field,

PS. My own team Eintracht Frankfurt ended on a 16th place in the mixed division (6th place spirit), which made us very happy.
PPS. Gronical Dizziness, the club from Groningen, got the bronze medal in the mixed division, combining this with a 2nd place in spirit.
